Mei 2021I hiked the Grand Canyon rim to rim om May 29th made it to Indian Gardens where I spent the night. Met a young man AJ a chef from India. We hiked out together on the 30th. Started at the North Rim at 4 AM, so were pretty tired by the time we got to this point, and we still had miles and lots of vertical still to go. This was a nice resting spot with water available. Water, shaded areas, pic-nic tables and even a small stream for you to immerse your weary feet of damp your head. Not only that, it is a beautiful place, something like an award the trail gives you for walking all the way to there. There are toilet facilities and a water tap to refill all your water bottles, as well as lovely shade to rest in. It is 5 miles below the rim, so is recommended that you do not do this as a day hike, but if you are in great shape it is doable. I was doing a rim to rim hike and stopped here for an overnight on the way up from Phantom Ranch. A really nice area, Lots of greenery and a nice campground. The rangers do presentations at the amphitheater. Water and toilets but no showers. I believe you can do a quick dip in the creek.
